Registrations are now open for Australia’s largest multisport festival coming to Geelong, from 20 February – 1 March 2009. Why not participate in one of 71 different sports with your friends and family and enjoy a summer holiday? The 12th Australian Masters Games is a ten day sports and entertainment festival open to people over the age of 30, regardless of sporting background or ability. Held biennially, the Games are run by the Confederation of Australian Sport (CAS), the peak body for sport in Australia. Geelong will come alive with over 10,000 people from Australia and overseas participating in 71 sports across 80 different venues in the Geelong region. This morning, whilst out riding my mountain bike with a couple of mates, we stopped for a gel, it was a little foggy still as the morning sun had not yet warmed the earth to clear the condensation. It felt as though we were being watched. I looked around and couldn’t see anyone around. I went to pedal off, but remained sure that there was someone right there with us. I looked up and saw a figure. At first I could not believe what I saw. I glanced away and then looked back. I then knew what I was looking at. But more importantly, what was looking at me. I could feel my own heart beat, I was so scared. Almost too afraid to breathe, I stood still. My two riding buddies stopped behind me. I could feel the cold July wind on my face and noticed the hair of the Yowie move with it. It stood perfect. Like a statue. Not a sound, not a move. I turned back to the two that I was riding with, their faces white like sheets, probably matched mine. One of the guys stood there like he had been frozen, motionless. I looked back into the bush and it was gone. Without a trace, the Yowie had disappeared. Not one of us said a word all the way back to the car. Be careful. It could be anywhere out there! |
